English to Spanish Translation Equipment for Church: What to Buy

What equipment does a church need to translate English into Spanish? You need a transmitter connected to your soundboard, one receiver per Spanish-speaking attendee, and either a volunteer interpreter or an AI system. Standard setup: T130T / T131T desktop interpretation system for churches with an interpreter, or TT136 AI translation system for churches without one.

Most churches already have the missing piece: a bilingual member willing to interpret. If that's you, human equipment costs less and sounds better. If nobody can interpret, AI fills the gap.

Choose your setup

Your church Buy this Set size
Fixed sanctuary, has a volunteer interpreter T130T / T131T 10–50 receivers, expand later
No Spanish interpreter available TT136 10, 20, 25 or 30-person sets
Multiple sites, or equipment travels between rooms T130P / T131P Portable sets with charging case
Small fellowship, walking setup, lightest receiver TT106S 18 g ear-hook receivers

Why the T130T / T131T fits a sanctuary

Feature Why it matters in church
250 m / 820 ft range Covers the whole room including the back rows and overflow areas
Connects to your soundboard Accepts XLR, 1/4 in, RCA LINE IN, 3.5 mm, Bluetooth, USB and TF card — whatever your mixer outputs
Interpreter monitor The interpreter can hear the original feed without it going out to the congregation
DSP noise reduction Keeps the voice clear when the room isn't perfectly quiet
40-hour receiver battery, 3-hour recharge Charge once, run several services
Desktop gooseneck mic Neat interpreter position, no handheld mic passing around

Set up once and leave it in place. Weekly operation becomes "switch on the transmitter, hand out receivers."

Where the interpreter sits: Usually a side room or the back row. They listen to the pastor on their own channel and speak the Spanish translation into the T130T on a second channel. Spanish listeners select that channel.

No interpreter? Use TT136

TT136 translates the sermon into Spanish automatically — no interpreter required. Both the transmitter and receivers are portable, and receivers weigh 18 g with a comfortable ear hook.

What to expect
Languages 120+, including Spanish dialects
Voice recognition Up to 10 spoken languages in one session
Range 492–656 ft — covers a sanctuary and overflow room
Battery Transmitter 20 h, receiver 13 h
Charging Optional 30- or 50-slot case with UV disinfection
Set sizes 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 (+case), 30 (+case), 40, 50 listeners

Be realistic about one thing: AI handles announcements, readings, and straightforward teaching very well. Poetry, Scripture idioms, and emotionally charged passages still come across better through a person. Many churches run AI on Sundays and keep a volunteer ready to step in for sensitive moments. TT136 also works offline as a plain audio system, so a network problem never leaves you silent.

Translation credits are consumed per second while AI translation runs; additional packages can be purchased.

How many receivers do you actually need?

Not one per member. Plan to average weekly Spanish-speaking attendance, then add margin.

Spanish-speaking attendance (typical) Order
5–12 10-person set
15–22 20-person set
25–35 30-person set (+30-slot charging case)
40+ Ask for a custom quote

Churches commonly over-order by 100% on the first purchase. Start with realistic numbers — every Retekess set can be expanded later.

Wiring it to your soundboard (T130T)

  1. Take a line-level output from your mixer — AUX send, REC out, or main out, depending on your board.
  2. Connect it to the T130T LINE IN (RCA, XLR, or 1/4 in).
  3. Plug the desktop gooseneck microphone into the interpreter position.
  4. Set the transmitter to its own channel; test with one receiver before distributing.
  5. Hand out receivers with a lanyard, then collect and drop them in the charging base after service.

If your board has no spare output, the T130T also accepts Bluetooth and USB — or use the included gooseneck mic standalone for the interpreter to relay the message.

Checklist before you order

  • Count typical Spanish-speaking attendance
  • Confirm whether a volunteer interpreter is available
  • Check your mixer's available output connector
  • Measure the room — anything over 100 m needs the 820 ft range of T130T / T131T
  • Decide on a charging case (recommended above 20 receivers)
  • Test before the first Sunday — T130 systems arrive in flat configuration sets

FAQ

How much does church translation equipment cost?
A T130T / T131T desktop system starts at 499.99.TT136AIsetsstartat549.99. Both are one-time hardware purchases; TT136 additionally uses translation credits while AI translation runs.

Can we use our existing sound system?
Yes — that's the point. Send your mixer output into the transmitter and the pastor's voice travels to Spanish listeners on their receivers. The room's own PA keeps serving English listeners unchanged.

Do we need a professional interpreter?
No. Most congregations use a trusted bilingual member. Equipment handles distribution; the person handles language.

What if our Spanish-speaking group grows?
Add receivers to the same system. You don't replace the transmitter.

Can we use it outdoors for a baptism or drive-in service?
Yes. T130P / T131P gives 525 ft of range with batteries rated for 20 h (transmitter) and 36 h (receiver).

Is there a trial period?
Yes — a 30-day free trial and 3-year warranty on Retekess interpretation equipment.
